Deja-Vu
Leaving the house with a 94-year-old is like leaving the house with the 4-year-old...Need to make sure you have water, a snack, change of clothes, umbrella stroller/wheelchair, medicine....but I'm glad we're finally getting out for a little while.  Restaurant behavior can be the same, sometimes as well; staring at other people eating, chewing with mouth open, reminders about food being too hot, cutting up food for them, wiping their face, and having to take  them to the bathroom. Such a strange case of deja-vu, but well worth it today.

Naughty, Naughty!
The more time we spend together, the more I see that some 93-year-olds, like my mother, act more like 3-year-olds. We're having some work done to our kitchen, so it's basically "off limits." Luckily, the fridge is still plugged in, just in the dining room instead of the kitchen. So, mom comes up for, "something sweet," and I give her chocolate pudding. She asks how she's supposed to eat it, and I reminded her that she has spoons downstairs in her kitchen. So, she replies, "I don't want to eat it downstairs! I want to eat it here." Next thing I know, she has the pudding open, and proceeds to lick it straight out of the container - pudding on the cheeks as well as the mouth and nose. Didn't think of photographing it, but I must admit it was rather cute. Brought back memories of my little ones doing the same.

Her Sweetheart, The Doctor
Took mom to Kaiser in Panorama for 2 cortisone shots. She is in love with her orthopedist, and I agree he is a doll! Wish more doctors would have his bedside manner. He told her that she is too young for him, and she needs to wait at least 5 years. She told him, that for him, she'd even wait 10!!! Yey!!! Now when she asks me why she's still alive, I can tell her, because your waiting for the doctor...

Owen and Mzee
Opening my blog with a little of mom's humor...I gave mom the book, "Owen and Mzee" The true story of a hippo and tortoise who became best friends after Owen, the hippo, was stranded following the 2004 tsunami. She looked at the cover, and says to me, "What is a MeZieEh?" Meaning what kind of animal is a "metzieh." In Yiddish, "metzieh" means bargain...lololol love the times that I can laugh
